Michelle Michelle Wiggins has recently completed R&D with the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, for their upcoming production Dublin Gothic. She also toured the UK and Ireland with Dominic Montague’s Callings with Kabosh, playing the role of Helen. The play centres on the 1970s LGBT Belfast support helpline Cara-Friend and was revived to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its service. Her performance was praised by British Theatre Guide: “Michelle Wiggins’s warmly, wittily realised novice volunteer, Helen, growing from nervous trepidation to self-assured confidence.” British Theatre Guide

Most recently, Michelle appeared as Sally in Bright Umbrella’s festive production Baby, It’s Cold Outside at The Sanctuary Theatre, Belfast. In a glowing review for CultureCrush NI, the show was described as “the best piece of festive fun I’ve watched this side of the big day itself”, with the ensemble — including Michelle — performing “brilliantly and with a verve that’s astounding.” The review praised the production’s relentless pace, richly drawn characters, and its ability to “entertain you, split your sides and question your views on gender roles and sexuality,” citing Michelle’s contribution as integral to the play’s warmth, humour and impact. Other theatre credits include Life and Love: Lesbian Style (Sole Purpose) and The Trouble with Harry (Theatreofpluck), both part of the Outburst Queer Arts Festival.

As a director, Michelle has worked extensively across the UK and internationally, including with the National Theatre on the Olivier Theatre stage. She will shortly begin working with the esteemed Martin Lynch on his next project for Green Shoot.
